Amazing Baba Nyonya ambience

Far East Cafe is owned by Mr Gan, a local Baba in Melaka since 2009. It’s located in Jonker Street and it’s a hotspot for authentic nyonya food for both locals & tourists. Their most popular items on their menu are ranging from Pong Teh, Ayam Kapitan, Cendol, Itik Tim, Mee Siam, Ngo Hiang, Kueh Pai Tee, Vege Spring Rolls and Tempra Chicken.

Not to forget, Far East Cafe’s signature Ayam Pandan Gulung – their best-seller.

You don’t want to miss out on the Baba Nyonya ambiance, furniture, Nyonya plates or utensils. All in all, it’s a fabulous decoration ambiance and it’s a surreal place to dine in.

Peranakan culture as a whole is largely defined by its cuisine. A fusion of Malay and Chinese traditions, Nyonya cuisine comprises dishes with out-of-the-ordinary vegetables, curries thickened by coconut milk and sauces that are delightfully pungent. Noteworthy though is the social etiquette of eating – locals use their fingers, not chopsticks, to eat – a fact that belies their Chinese ancestral roots and establishes Nyonya culture as one of Malaysia’s veritable legacies.
